The World From Christian Singles Point Of View

Posted on 08 September 2008 by Admin

“I am Christian and I am single.” As a person who has mingled with so many Christians, I often hear those two statements come out of the mouth of people in a single breath. Christianity and singleness seems to equate with each other very well. Why are there so many Christian singles, we may ask? I don’t have the exact answer myself but I can guess.

Christians are a group of people with a strict guiding principle when it comes to associating with other people. They’re not really antisocial nor are they choosy people. There are just some rules that they are tying to obey. These rules may be imposed by their church. They could be imposed by their Christian parents. And many of these rules are self-imposed. Christians are trying to live up with a standard of living that is far from normal. With normal I mean majority of people. They are normal people. Actually, only their lifestyle is different.

Now what has lifestyle has to do with singleness? Well, for one, Christians to have a partner, have to find the right person. The first thing they would try to do is look for partners within their church. Depending on the size of church, a Christian who looks for a partner could find a few matches. Those matches are based on age, personality, likes and dislikes, and other personal preferences. Out of those criteria, the Christian will set guiding principles in looking for the right person to mingle with. They would get to know each other and sometimes, feeling develops that will lead to marriage proposals and then marriage vows. That’s what happens in a perfect world. In the real world, however, the matches, if there’s any, rarely blooms to a loving relationship. Many Christians begin to grow old without finding the right person for them.

Christian singles are such because they choose to be like that. They have a choice but they are not using that power of choice wisely. Some choose to be single because they think that being single is God’s will for them. They thought that if they were not able to find the right partner within the church then the search is already over. They failed to see the real world that is out there waiting for people like them.

It is not too late for Christian singles, however. If they would just open their eyes and look around them, they would see people. The world is so big and it is a home to millions of Christians who are also waiting or even seeking for someone to be their partner for the rest of their lives. If only Christian singles would open up a little and give serious relationship a chance to prove to them that the world is full of nice people and they’re also Christians, they would feel the warmth of the love the wide Christian world can offer.

Yes. There’s a wide world full of other Christians out there. They are jus waiting for you to open up and reach out to them.
